In last Friday’s Homecoming football game, the Saratoga Falcons defeated the Mustangs 35-28.

The game began with a strong offensive performance from Saratoga. A minute and a half into the first quarter, the Falcons ran in an 8-yard touchdown and scored the extra point, putting themselves up 7-0. Five minutes later, Saratoga ran in a 4-yard touchdown and went up 14-0, with the extra point five minutes before the end of the quarter.

Despite being down, the Mustangs continued to fight. After recovering a fumble from the Falcons at the 1-yard line, senior running back Teddy Tefera scored a touchdown with one second left in the first quarter. With the extra point converted, the Mustangs were back in the game with a score of 14-7.

The Mustangs’ hard work carried on to the second quarter when senior quarterback Dominic Faria made a 51-yard run into the end zone with five minutes left until halftime. The extra point tied the game at 14-14. With a minute remaining in the second quarter, the Falcons scored another touchdown to put themselves up 21-14.

Once again, the Mustangs answered back with a 45-yard touchdown pass to senior tight end Makhai Mcharris, with two seconds remaining in the half. The extra point tied the game at 21-21 heading into the second half.

After an uneventful third quarter, the Falcons muscled their way to score two consecutive touchdowns in the span of a minute. The Falcons were up 35-21. However, the Mustangs refused to give up. A touchdown from senior running back Kylend Howard and the extra point put the Mustangs within reaching distance of tying it up.

Despite the valiant effort put forth by the Mustangs, Saratoga ended the game victorious with a 35-28 win.
