Junior Shiva Chitta said his friends and family encouraged him to attend prom, despite initially intending not to.
“My mom told me to go and ‘have a slice of [my] life,’” Chitta said. “I'm sure there are prom [events] in colleges…but we have to go [to junior and senior prom.]”

Malar Raguraman is in her final year of high school and is an Arts and Culture editor for The Epitaph. In her third year as a journalist, she is looking forward to belting out white girl music during late nights, spending hours upon hours on InDesign and crafting an unforgettable senior spread. Outside of her hectic world of high school, Malar finds solace in NYT Sudoku, rereading the Harry Potter series and making friendship bracelets.
