The FUHSD Board of Trustees met to discuss a range of topics on Sept. 9, most notably the district-wide dress code and a new file management system.
The board approved a $8052 contract with ARC Document Solutions, LLC for SKYSITE Archives, a file management system that would allow the district to more easily access records. Currently, the district maintains both physical and digital files, but this contract would fully digitize records and delete duplicates or outdated information.
SKYSITE Archives would allow architects and construction workers to access building plans from personal devices rather than waiting for administration to give it to them. This would make remodeling and meeting new construction codes more efficient.
The board also deferred a motion to reword the dress code after trustee Pat Carpio-Aguilar raised concerns over word usage like “gang apparel” and sections that seemed overly targeted towards female students. She said that the district had no gang problem, and the wording could be used to disproportionately target Latino students.
Other trustees opposed the change because they said it was a preventative measure in case gang violence became a problem in the district.
Additionally, new student representative, LHS senior Amy Tang, joined the board for the first time. Tang provided comments on topics like the dress code, introducing a valuable perspective to the meeting.
The board also:
- Approved the Student Teaching Agreement between FUHSD and Pepperdine University
- Approved Revisions to Board Policy and Review of Revisions to Administrative Regulation 6152.1, Placement in Math
- Approved the 2024-2025 Unaudited Actuals
- Established a revised Gann Limit and projected a 2025-2026 Gann Limit
